Cashews arrive to our production plant as raw unprocessed material and are roasted in our roasting machines using a technological process.
It is important to note that the heat treated cashew is always a better option than the raw cashew. The reason is that the raw seed can get infected with salmonella, while the processing does not change its composition nor the nutritional value.
Although many people think that cashew is a nut, it is actually a seed of the cashew apple, which has a sweet and sour flavor and is very rich in vitamin C, lowers blood cholesterol, blood pressure and even the risk of gallstones. It is very important for heart and cardiovascular system health, as well as for the health of eyes, bones and muscles.
Cashews can be used in a variety of ways, whether consumed as a snack or as an addition to many recipes and salads. They are very popular in exotic recipes which require that the cashew is processed into cheese or butter, while in the Croatian area it is mostly consumed a healthy snack.
Due to its high starch content, it is commonly used in the food industry as a thickener for stews, soups and dairy desserts.
