Although they are tiny, chia seeds have increasingly been growing popular and carry the flattering title of a true superfood. They are rich in omega-3 fatty acids and contain six times the calcium found in milk and fifteen times the magnesium content of broccoli.

You can use them in breakfast alongside cereals and fruit, sprinkle them on top of various savory and sweet dishes (soups, sandwiches, salads, different vegetable dishes, desserts etc.) or incorporate them into bread, pastry and cookie dough. In other words, there are almost no limitations to using chia seeds.

Before using chia seeds, it is recommended that you soak them in water or other liquid for at least 10 minutes. When cooking, always add them at the end of the process since they lose some of their nutrients through heat treatment.

Chia seeds are also used to produce gluten-free flour which can be used either on its own or combined with other types of flour.
