Sweet Hearts with Orange and Cranberries

  • Mix the sugar with the grated orange zest, and rub the zest into the sugar with your fingertips until it becomes intensely fragrant.
  • In a bowl, mix the butter, orange-scented sugar, and vanilla by hand until the mixture becomes smooth and combined.
  • Add the flour and finely chopped cranberries, and continue kneading the dough by hand until all the ingredients are well incorporated.
  • Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and place it in the fridge.
  • Once chilled, remove the dough from the fridge, form it into a ball, lightly flatten it, and roll it out on a floured surface to about 0.5 cm thickness.
  • Use cookie cutters to cut out heart shapes.
  • Place the cookies on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
  • Reform the dough scraps, roll them out again, and cut out new shapes.
  • Preheat the oven to 170°C and bake for 12-15 minutes, until the edges are slightly golden.
  • Let them cool.
  • Melt the white chocolate and dip one half of each cookie into it.
  • Drain the excess, sprinkle with chopped cranberries, and let the glaze set.
